Well, it's 8:10 and I have to be in court at 9:00 today. My husband and I have filed suit against the so-called engineer that did the perc test for our septic system when we built the house a few months ago. It was a terrible mess. He said that the perc test passed and that it was ready to go. Well, he lied. The perc test didn't perc and he never even mailed the paperwork in. So, there we were...one week from completion on our house and we had no septic tank. The health department wouldn't sign off on it because the land had too much clay in it and the water wouldn't seep into the ground. So, we had to have the engineer come back out, do another perc test in a different spot. The septic system was then running up hill and we had to purchase a pump to pump all the stuff to it. To make matters worse, the uphill thing didn't work either and it was gushing out into our yard (talk about disgusting)! So, we had to pay yet another person to come out and fix the problem. They added more lines, moved things around a bit, and it's working fine.

Needless to say, we contacted our attorney and he suggested that we sue him in small claims court. If that didn't work, we could hire him and take it to a higher court. Since we are going to small claims court, we are only allowed to sue for $5,000.00, which is what we are suing him for. I don't think this engineer realizes the magnitude of what he has done. Had that stuff backed up in the other direction, it would have gotten into our drinking water, made us all sick, and could have backed up into our brand new house. I think that we are entitled to all the money that we have shelled out to get the darn thing fixed!!!

Now that I've vented a little this morning, I am off to get some work done. I will let you all know how it goes as soon as I get back. =)
